Nairobi, Kenya, January 23, 2021 / TRAVELINDEX / The Kenyan Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has announced the appointment of English supermodel Naomi Campbell to become Magical Kenya International Ambassador. The appointment was agreed upon following a meeting between Campbell and Najib Balala, the Cabinet Secretary of the ministry. In a statement, the Ministry says Campbell, 50, will help promote the marketing of Kenya as an ideal tourism and travel destination to the world.
“We welcome the exciting news that Naomi Campbell will advocate for tourism and travel internationally for the magical Kenya brand,” Balala said in the statement.

The country’s tourism sector has been impacted severely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is attracting visitors to safely visit the destination as one of the countries open for American travelers since travel restrictions began.
Local media reported that Campbell had flown into the country and went to the tourist resort town of Malindi for the Christmas and New Year holidays. News of Campbell’s recruitment comes in the wake of pop star Madonna revealing that she was also in the country for a visit. The 62-year-old posted videos on her Instagram account saying she had visited the counties of Samburu and Baringo and interacted with locals.
Kenya’s tourism sector was badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic recording lower numbers of visitors and hotel occupancy but the government has since embarked on an aggressive campaign to revive its fortunes.
