The architecture and interior design of the Fasano Hotel Rio de Janeiro pay homage to the spirit of Brazilian design of the 1950’s and 1960’s, and the glorious Bossa Nova era. Channeling the heyday of Jobim and Gilberto, the staff wears Ocimar Versolato–inspired uniforms.

Fasano Hotel Rio de Janeiro is the first building in Brazil designed by Philippe Starck, making it the most fascinating destination at Ipanema’s beachfront. Distinctly Brazilian materials like Îpe flooring and the enormous piquiá tree stump used for the reception desk are mixed with Grecian marble, 19th-century Argentinean brick and Chinese onyx.

LOCATION
Located on Rio de Janeiro’s legendary Ipanema Beach, star designer Philippe Starck’s first hotel in Brazil pays homage to the golden age of bossa nova. The Hotel Fasano has one of Rio’s most coveted addresses, situated on Avenida Vieira Souto in the heart of Ipanema beach.

The guest rooms have Sergio Rodrigues furnishings and Starckian ear-shaped mirrors and come with private balconies affording sweeping views. Overseeing the Al Mare restaurant is a chef from Florence’s Michelin-starred Enoteca Pinchiorri, while the Renata de Abreu Spa offers La Prairie treatments.

This elegant suite (753 ft²) features balcony, loft-style living room, private bar, sumptuous hardwood floors, along with Starck’s Dali-esque ear-shaped mirrors (aptly named “ears that see”), and elegant Sergio Rodrigues chairs. Michelin-starred chef Luca Gozzani continues Fasano’s century-old dining legacy at the spacious Fasano Al Mare restaurant.

Fasano Al Mare
The family’s celebrated tradition in gastronomy can be experienced at Fasano al Mare. . Lead by restaurateur Rogério Fasano, the kitchen is run by chef Nicola Fideli, who explores the diverse aspects of Mediterranean cuisine, with a special focus on seafood. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the main dining area as well as the inviting terrace.

Designed by Philippe Starck to offer beautiful views of the sidewalks of Ipanema, the restaurant also has a private dining area, concealed by white linen curtains. Scandinavian tables are arranged under a splendid Murano chandelier.
