Wine Reviews

Trivento Reserve – Cabernet Sauvignon
Mendoza, Argentina

Vineyards: Mendoza, Argentina. Grapes primarily sourced from the Maipú and surrounding areas. Stony alluvial soil.

Review: The wine is big and strong with a deep ruby red colour with upfront delicious and powerful notes of red berries, fresh mint and aromatic herbs which combine harmoniously with hints of vanilla from the oak. Full-bodied notes with the ripeness where it should be. Rounded fleshy tannins are well-structured on the palate with a pleasant, persistent and lingering finish. The finish stays short with the spices becoming subtle as the oak and tannins stay light.

Food Pairing: Trivento Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon goes well with red meat dishes, spicy sauces and savory pasta dishes.

Château Faugères – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France

Vineyards: Château Faugères occupies 37 hectares of homogeneous land which encompasses some of the finest terroirs in Saint-Emilion, France.

Review: Big and fruity, with juicy fruit and overriding tension. Very dark, ripe and generous, the extraction giving a chewy edge. Smooth and lush with firm tannins in the well-balanced and appealing finish. It needs several years of aging.

Food Pairing: Château Faugères, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is a great match with all types of classic meat dishes (veal, beef, roast chicken, lamb, duck, game, etc). The wine is goes well with Asian dishes and rich fish courses like tuna.

Cristal Louis Roederer – Champagne
Reims, France

Vineyards: Louis Roederer’s vineyards stretched across 240 hectares and include 410 parcels located in three classic Champagne districts: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs, France.

Review: Cristal is a remarkably balanced and refined champagne whose length is inimitable. It has a silky texture and fruity aromas, complemented by a powerful mineral quality with white fruit and citrus notes. Cristal is both powerful and delicate, combining subtlety and precision; a sophisticated gastronomic wine. Produced uniquely during the best years, when the Chardonnay (around 40%) and Pinot noir (around 60%) grapes have attained perfect maturity, Cristal is aged for 6 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further 8 months after dégorgement.

Food Pairing: Louis Roederer Brut Champagne Cristal is a fantastic pairing with seafood, such as lobster, scallops, or caviar, crab and monkfish in delicate sauces, or anything containing truffles.
